Simple Habits For A Positive Mindset

Updated: Jan 31, 2021

There are always going to be ups and downs in life, but with everything that's currently going on with the pandemic, it can be easy to find yourself stuck in a rut. I'm here to remind you that you don’t have to stay there. How do you get yourself un-stuck, you ask? Here are five places for you to start - and slowly by surely, you will hopefully move on towards a more positive mindset.

Start Every Day With Optimism

Your morning routine sets the tone for the rest of your day. So how can you bring a positive mindset into your morning so you can kick-start the rest of the day? Consume your mind with positive information: express some gratitude or write in your gratitude journal, read your positive affirmations, listen to an uplifting podcast, or read some positive articles online - this will really help to set the tone and align your mind in the right direction.

Be Grateful & Say It Out Loud

Expressing gratitude is not just for your morning routine. Expressing gratitude consistently throughout the day can help you experience more positive emotions on an ongoing basis. You only need a few minutes a day to reflect upon and remind yourself that you actually do have really positive things going on in your life. Say them out loud to yourself: "You know what, I'm really grateful for ______." Even when things aren’t going your way in the moment, there's always something for which to be grateful!.

Surround Yourself With Positivity Influences

“Birds of a feather, flock together.” Chose to spend your time with positive-minded people. Whether we want to admit it or not, the people you surround yourself with can influence your mindset and can have a huge effect on your attitude and how you think about things. There is only so much positivity you can drum up on your own, so make sure that the main influences in your life share your same desire for maintaining a positive mindset all around.

Be Solution-Oriented

Sitting around and doing nothing about a problem in your life won’t help get you out of the situation or make matters any better. Try being proactive and solution-oriented. You don’t need to make huge strides every day. One small step forward can have a positive effect on your mood and thoughts. Focus on trying to do something at all times to better your circumstance, rather than just expecting things to magically improve. Take charge of your life and your happiness by being proactive and solution-focused.

Reduce Your Worries

Worrying definitely does not help to put you in a positive mindset. In fact, worrying is a powerful and destructive space that can completely overthrow your positive track and send you into a tailspin. Obviously trying not to worry about important goings-on in your life is easier said than done, but it is possible to decrease the amount of time you spend worrying by being proactive, refocusing your energy, or just implementing self-care habits for your own mental health.

Taking action on a daily basis rather than giving up and giving in to incoming negative thoughts will help get you out of a dark space, and go a long way towards bringing your positive mindset and lifted spirits back.
